Meet Mittal Saglani, a software tester at FrogSlayer who joined our team just last July. After her husband’s job brought him to College Station, Mittal moved from India in May of 2016 and has been breaking code ever since.
What led you to software testing?
Software testing is challenging for many reasons, and although those challenges can be long and tedious at times, getting to test different applications using different devices, browsers, and utilizing different user roles is exciting to me. I enjoy finding defects and looking for ways to break the software. This passion was discovered when I worked on my very first project in India – and I’ve enjoyed being a software tester ever since.
I love watching Indian movies, swimming, and for the last couple of months I have started jazzercise. I really enjoy the aerobic exercise and dance fitness. My typical day consists of me making breakfast and tea for my husband and myself, followed by a productive work day. I like to try and workout in the evenings and then cook/eat dinner with my husband before relaxing and watching Netflix.
What’s your favorite part of being a tester?
Testing the software, finding/tracking the bugs, and suggesting improvement ideas all contribute towards the betterment of a product for a client and that makes me feel satisfied. It involves looking at a product from different angles with different perspectives and testing it with different expectations. It’s exciting and fulfilling!
Where do you see the world of technology in 10 years?
Ten years from now, I see technology will be Connected, But Simple. Currently, there’s a lot of excitement around the internet of things (we’re able to be connected to everything: refrigerator, car, garage, thermostat). Ten years from now, as technology matures, I believe we’ll see all that connectivity simplify. For example, rather than gauging if the soap bottle is full enough or if the lights are at the perfect brightness, you’ll instead be able to tell your smart bathroom that your visit was bad because there wasn’t enough soap.
Mittal feels right at home with FrogSlayer and the people around her. “At FrogSlayer, I have a manager that consistently encourages me to grow, people who always make me feel part of the team and show their appreciation for my work, and I’m constantly encouraged to always take initiative to get tasks accomplished. I feel like FrogSlayer cares about each employee and is a master at maximizing our strengths while granting us autonomy over our work, along with an extremely flexible schedule.” FrogSlayer is happy Mittal made her way to College Station and to our QA team.
